For Walkers
Overview
The Walk with Sidney is a 2K Family Fun walk that's more than just a fundraising event for KHAKY. The addition of a free health screening, in partnership with Central Baptist Hospital, also helps KHAKY spread the word about chronic kidney disease and the importance of early detection.
The Walk is held inside Fayette Mall providing a comfortable environment and the opportunity for window shopping along the walk route. Registration is available online or the day of the walk in the Food Court and begins at 8:30AM. Walkers are led on the walk route by Sidney the Kidney, KHAKY's life-size kidney mascot. As the walkers return to the food court at the end of the walk, they are encouraged to take advantage of the free screening and treated to gift bags and drawings for door prizes. Walkers and teams raising the most money are also recognized with special prizes.
Get Involved
Local businesses participate both as sponsors and by organizing walk teams to represent them at the event. If you are interested in sponsorship opportunities please download the sponsorship brochure.
Patient families, volunteers, and friends of KHAKY participate by pre-registering online, securing sponsorships from their friends, family members, and co-workers; holding their own fundraising events such as bake sales, dress casual Fridays, etc.; and then walking the mall. Funds collected must be brought with the walker pledge form to check-in the day of the walk. Donations can be made online and credited to a specific walker or team through KHAKY's online donation page. The donor should make the donation in honor of the person walking or the name of the team they are supporting in the fields provided on that page. Online donations will be added to the walker's total the day of the event.
